HOOVER, MALOTT BOTH SELECTED IN 2015 WBNA DRAFT

Malott Chosen Eighth by Mystics, Hoover 31st by Sparks

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - For the first time in program history, not just one but two University of Dayton women's basketball players have been selected in the 2015 WNBA Draft. Graduating senior Ally Malott was selected as the eighth overall draft pick by the Washington Mystics and graduating senior Andrea Hoover was chosen 31st overall by the Los Angeles Sparks.

This is the first time an Atlantic 10 team has had two players drafted since Xavier in 2011 and Malott is the third-highest drafted Dayton student-athlete ever (Jim Paxson - third 1956 NBA Draft; John Horan - sixth 1955 NBA Draft).

"We have had the opportunity to see Ally in person 8 or 9 times, as well as watch her practice," said Mystics head coach and general manager Mike Thibault. "In my mind, she is the best definition of the modern "stretch four" in this draft. She is one of the best shooters in the draft at any position. She helps space the floor, can play around the basket and is a very good outlet passer to start the break."

One of the most prolific duos in Dayton history, Hoover and Malott set several new program records, including the most wins over a four-year period with 102 victories over 127 games during their tenure as Flyers. The two helped lead the team to NCAA Tournament appearances all four seasons they wore the Flyer uniform, including Dayton's first appearance in the NCAA Regional Final this season.
