MANDA CASH EARNS A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

It Is Her Fourth Time Earning the Award This Season

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton freshman pitcher Manda Cash earned her fourth Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honor for games played from April 20-26.

The southpaw went 2-0 with one save in Dayton's 3-0 week. She posted a 0.62 ERA with 11.1 innings pitched and 16 strikeouts. Cash shut it down for the Flyers in a 9-6 win over crosstown rival Wright State on Tuesday, April 21, earning her seventh save of the season, tying her for the NCAA lead. She went three and a third innings, tying her longest relief appearance of the season. She also holds the UD single season record for saves.

Cash came in relief in the seventh inning in game one vs. UMass on Sunday, April 26 with the score tied 0-0, inheriting one runner and no outs. She struck out Quianna Diaz-Patterson, who was second in the nation in batting average (.535). After allowing a single, Cash retired the next two batters with a runner at third. Jordan Jennings hit a walk-off homerun for the Flyer victory.

Cash earned the start in game two of the doubleheader vs. the Minutewomen. She tied a career high by striking out 10 in her second career complete game shutout. She allowed just three hits in the complete game.

The Flyers went a perfect 14-0 at UD Softball Stadium this season, marking the first time in UD softball program history that Dayton has gone undefeated at home. UD has clinched a spot in the 2015 A-10 Championship, its fourth appearance in the last five years. At 34-12, UD is one win away from tying the program record for season wins.
