CINCINNATI, Ohio – The University of Dayton rowing team had a strong outing at the Cincinnati Regatta at East Fork State Park Saturday.
 
"Each week the team continues to get faster, we are tested by our competition and we learn from each experience," said UD Novice Coach Brittany Adell. "The team is working hard."
 
The highlight of the regatta was the second-place finish by the UD Varsity 8+ in the finals. The Flyers medaled with a time of 6:42.75, just three seconds behind first-place finisher Grand Valley State (6:39.68). The Dayton V8+ was comprised of Madison Doty (coxswain), Rosie Perez, Allison Martie, Kaleigh Barkaszi, Allie Rogers, Emma Tokar, Erin Mohney and Kayla Contardi. They beat out crews from Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Miami and Murray State.
 
The Flyers also took second and third place in the JV 8+ finals. UD's A team of Tricia Santoni (coxswain), Grace Hagan, Becca McDonald, Brianne Hollandsworth (Breezy), Chloe Hollinden, Katy Speed, Rachel Hock, Kristen Hackel and Sarah Byrd – took second place in a time of 7:31.84.

Dayton's JV8+ B-team took third place in 7:52.65. That crew was made up of: Meghan Garriott (coxswain), Amanda Matney, Alex Anain, Bree Richards, Claire Hardy, Emily Griffin, Danielle Foust, Anna Karnstein and Lindsey Fisher.
 
UD's Varsity 4+ A crew took third place in its heat and fifth place in the finals. The Dayton V4+ B team was second in its heat but did not make the final.
 
The Novice 4+ UD crew took third place in the finals with a time of 8:28.15. The boat included: Gwen Bartot (coxswain), Eden Willams, Bree Richards, Brianne Hollandsworth (Breezy) and Anna Karnstein.
 
"We will enjoy a day off with family to celebrate Easter and then we'll be preparing for the GW Invite coming up on Friday and Saturday," said Adell.
