GAME PREVIEW• The University of Dayton baseball team will host Fordham in its final series of the regular season this weekend at Woerner Field. The Flyers and Rams meet Thursday at 3 p.m., Friday at 1 p.m., and Saturday at 12 p.m. Before the final game of the series, there will also be a Senior Day ceremony for the six Dayton seniors.
• The Flyers are 14-37 overall and 3-18 in Atlantic 10 games. Dayton is 7-15 at home and on a five-game losing streak, including a loss at Bowling Green on Tuesday.
• Fordham enters the final weekend with a 21-28 record on the season and 12-9 A-10 record. The Rams are jockeying for positing in the conference standings as they look towards the A-10 tournament. Fordham has found most of its success at home, going 4-18 on the road this year.
WHO TO WATCH - DAYTON• Offensively, Dayton is batting .239 on the season with a .331 slugging percentage and a .330 on-base percentage. The Flyers have 90 doubles and 50 steals as well.
• Leading the way for UD are sophomore
Matt Poland, who has a .276 average and 19 RBI, and senior
Zach Schira, who has a .270 average and 24 RBI.
• Pitchers
Charlie Dant (1-10, 5.18 ERA, 64 k's),
Noah Buettgen (3-7, 5.08 ERA, 51 k's), and
Mason Kutruff (5-2, 5.14 ERA) are projected as the starters.
• As a pitching staff, Dayton has a 5.60 ERA and 324 strikeouts through 448 innings of work. Freshman
Tyson Schnitkey leads the team with 24 appearances while junior
Sam Brunner has five saves.
• Defensively, the Flyers have a .958 fielding percentage and 83 errors in 51 games.
WHO TO WATCH - THE OPPONENT• Fordham has a team batting average of .273 to go with 112 extra-base hits and 94 stolen bases.
• Sophomore Matthew Kozuch and junior Charles Galiano both have 34 RBI to lead the Rams with Galiano hitting eight home runs this season. Joseph Runco has also chipped in 28 steals and 38 runs scored.
• The pitching staff for the Rams has combined for an ERA of 4.99 and 357 strikeouts compared to 187 walks.
• The Rams defensively have a .973 fielding percentage and 49 errors.
