RECORD FOUR FLYERS NAMED NFCA ALL-REGION

Manda Cash, Kayla English, Tiffany Ricks and Gabrielle Snyder Honored

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four University of Dayton softball players have been named to the 2015 NFCA Division I Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams. Pitchers Manda Cash, a freshman, and Kayla English, a senior, earned second team honors and senior Tiffany Ricks (1B) and sophomore Gabrielle Snyder (UT/P) were named to the third team.

It marks the first time in program history that four Flyers have been named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic Region Teams. Ricks was a second team honoree in 2014 while Snyder was a third team selection along with Alysha Isaacson (DP) last year. Other past Flyers that have earned all-region accolades are: Sara Hatcher (P) and Tanya Leet (3B) (2000 Great Lakes Region Second Team), Angie Barney (2B - 2003 Great Lakes Region First Team), Cassie Gross (OF - 2005 Great Lakes Region Second Team) and Lauren Nacke (UT/Non-P - 2011 Mid-Atlantic Region First Team).

Freshman lefthander Cash (Columbus, Ohio) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, as well as second team all-conference after leading the league in ERA (1.49), strikeouts per game (9.56), appearances (39) and saves (8). She was a four-time A-10 Rookie of the Week selection, as well as closing out the season with A-10 Pitcher of the Week and NFCA National Pitcher of the Week honors. She led the nation with a UD single-season record nine saves and was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team.

English (Grapevine, Texas), UD's all-time leader in strikeouts (564), was named the 2015 A-10 Pitcher of the Year and was voted first team all-conference, her fourth consecutive season earning all-league honors. She was a four-time A-10 Pitcher of the Week. Second all-time at Dayton for wins with 53, English threw the first perfect game in UD softball history vs. Rhode Island on March 29, 2015. She led the A-10 in opponents' batting average (.187) and was second in ERA (2.03) and shutouts (6).

Ricks (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), who was a 2014 NFCA Second Team honoree, was named the A-10 Player of the Year and earned first team honors after leading the conference in home runs. The three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection was second in the conference in total bases (113) and third in slugging percentage (.769). She finished as UD's all-time leader in career RBI (126) and slugging percentage (.660) and second all time in home runs (36). Ricks was also named to the A-10 All-Championship Team.

Snyder (Indianapolis, Ind.) repeats as an NFCA Third Team honoree. The 2014 A-10 Rookie of the Year, Snyder earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 2015, and was also an All-Academic selection this year. She led the Flyers in batting average (.399) which was third-best in the conference. She led the A-10 in doubles with 20, which broke the UD single-season record and was ranked ninth in the NCAA for doubles per game. Snyder was also named to the A-10 All-Championship Team. She had career highs at the plate in hits (65), multi-hit games (20), RBI (37) and on the mound in wins (8), ERA (3.00), complete games (4) and hits given up (102).

The NFCA awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2015 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
