NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has released its week four polls Monday and named the men's cross country team as the No. 14 team in the Great Lakes Region.
The Flyers are coming off a strong weekend with a second-place finish at the All-Ohio Championship at Cedarville. The Flyers finished ahead of regionally ranked teams, including Miami, Ohio, and Akron.
"We're excited to have gotten a regional ranking," said head coach
Jason Ordway. "This was a team goal for the season and I'm happy we accomplished it. The guys have worked hard for it and I'm happy to see that pay off. It's been 5+ years since Dayton men have earned a ranking so we're moving in the right direction as a program. Now we'll plan on continuing to work hard to maintain it."
Ohio State finished first, followed by Dayton, Cincinnati, and Miami. The Flyers were picked ahead of Cincinnati to earn a spot in the rankings.
Up next, the Flyers will head to Terre Haute, Indiana to race the NCAA Division I Pre-National Invitation on October 15.
