#UDMXC EARNS USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC HONOR

Flyers Own 10th-Best Team GPA

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Dayton men's cross country team has been named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2015 cross country season.

The Flyers posted the 10th best GPA in the nation with a 3.58 team average, which was also tops in the Atlantic 10.

This marks the 21st consecutive season Dayton has earned this USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition. Head Coach Jason Ordway is in his first season leading the UD men's cross country team.

"This ranking stands as a testament to our focus on academic success," Ordway said. "Our guys are taking some of the most difficult majors offered at Dayton, further demonstrating the superior work ethic our team has developed and adopted.

"Personally, I believe this award is one of the most important we could achieve," he added. "I'm pleased to continue the tradition of success Coach (Rich) Davis has created."

The men's and women's teams at Dayton were again both honored for their academic accomplishments this past year.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the program must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five at their respective NCAA regional championship.
