DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton baseball team will host four games for the 2016 Flyer Classic this weekend at Woerner Field. UD opens the weekend with neighboring Wright State at 3 p.m. Friday. The Flyers then host Oakland for a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12 p.m. before finishing the classic on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Eastern Michigan.
• The Flyers head into the weekend on a two-game winning streak with victories over High Point on Sunday and Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday. UD is 2-8 on the season and 1-0 at home this year. Head coach Tony Vittorio is in his 17th year in charge.
• Wright State is 7-6 overall this season with a 6-6 record on the road. The Raiders have wins over No. 8 N.C. State, Elon, and Georgia. Head coach Greg Lovelady has faced the Flyers multiple times in his three years at the helm.
• Oakland will face Eastern Michigan at Wright State on Friday before meeting Dayton twice on Saturday. The Grizzlies are 4-8 on the year with all 12 games coming on the road. Head coach John Musachio has guided OU to vitctories over Pepperdine, Portland, and Seattle.
• Eastern Michigan enters the Flyers Classic with a 4-8 record overall and wins over Nebraska-Omaha, NJIT, and South Florida. The Eagles also faced No. 1 Florida and Arizona State this season.

WHO TO WATCH - DAYTON
• The Flyers offensively are batting .236 overall with 14 doubles, seven home runs, and seven steals. Leading the way are Robbie Doring, with a .368 average, four home runs, and 10 RBI. Aaron Huesman and Nick Weybright have chipped in five RBI apiece.
• Dayton's pitching staff has combined for an ERA of 6.67 with 61 strikeouts and 41 walks in 82 1/3 innings.
• The starting rotation for UD is projected to be LHP Mason Kutruff on Friday vs. Wright State, RHP's Charlie Dant and Zach Beaver on Saturday, and RHP Sam Brunner on Sunday.
• The Flyers defensively have a .971 fielding percentage with just 10 errors and 10 double plays in 350 chances.

WHO TO WATCH - THE OPPONENTS
• Wright State is batting .238 overall including a .405 slugging percentage and a .359 on-base percentage. The Raiders have 38 extra-base hits and 26 steals in 13 games. Gabe Snyder (14 RBI), Ryan Fucci (13 RBI), and John Brodner (12 RBI) are the main offensive threats for WSU.
• The Raiders have a team ERA of 5.21 and 96 strikeouts to 43 walks over 112 1/3 innings of work. Friday's starter is TBA.
• Wright State has a .974 fielding percentage with 13 errors and 13 double plays.
• Oakland has a team batting average of .242 with 21 doubles, six steals, and a .332 slugging percentage. Zach Sterry and Matt DiLeo both have eight RBI to lead the Grizzlies.
• As a staff, OU has an ERA of 5.33 over 98 innings of work with 63 strikeouts and 58 walks. The Grizzlies with throw Jake Lee (5.68 ERA, 2-1, 9 K's) in game one and Tyler Palm (4.50 ERA, 2-1, 5 K's) in game two on Saturday.
• Oakland has 24 errors for a .946 fielding percentage in 12 games.
• Eastern Michigan offensively has 30 extra-base hits and a .262 average through 12 games. Jackson Martin has a team-high 12 RBI with Brennan Williams, Mike Mioduszewski, and John Montgomery chipping in seven RBI apiece.
• The Eagles have a team ERA of 5.26 with 87 strikeouts and 49 walks with a 4-8 record in 102 2/3 innings of work. Sunday's starter is TBA.
• Eastern Michigan has a fielding percentage of .968 with 14 errors and six double plays.

LAST MEETING
Dayton and Wright State squared off last at Nischwitz Stadium on April 21, 2015 with the Raiders edging out a narrow 5-4 win over the Flyers.

The Flyers and Oakland last met on March 17, 2013 in Dayton with UD defending its home field in an 8-5 win over the Grizzlies.

UD and EMU faced last on April 2, 2014 with the Flyers winning at home 7-5. Dayton's Nick Gobert picked up the win on the mound.

LAST OUTING
The Flyers played its home opener of the 2016 season and held on for a 10-8 win over Miami (Ohio) Tuesday. Doring had a solo home run while Weybright and Huesman drove in a pair.
The Raiders defeated nearby Xavier 4-1 in its home opener on Tuesday as well. WSU got two RBI from Peyton Burdick while Trevor Swaney earned the win on the mound.

The Grizzlies suffered a 7-1 loss to Seattle in the series finale on Sunday. Oakland got a single run from Ian Yetsko while using six different pitchers.

The Eagles dropped all three games in a series at Arizona State last weekend in Tempe. EMU dropped the finale 8-1 with Mitchell McGeein scoring the lone run with a solo home run.

STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Dayton ranks 11th in the Atlantic 10 in batting average, 12th in team ERA, but leads the league in fielding percentage.

Individually, Gobert rankes second in the A-10 in home runs and fifth in slugging percentage.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will return to action on March 18 in Muncie, Ind. at Ball State for a four-game series.
