DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team will host Miami of Ohio on Tuesday, March 8 at 3 p.m. at Woerner Field before traveling down to Oxford on Wednesday, March 9 for a 6 p.m. contest at McKie Field.

Dayton enters the week with a 1-8 record overall, but will play its first home game of the season on Tuesday. The Flyers have played two series in South Carolina (Spartanburg Classic and Furman) and one in North Carolina (High Point) so far this season. Head coach Tony Vittorio is in his 17^th year at the helm and is looking to get UD back to postseason play.

Miami (Ohio) is 5-4 overall this year, also playing all nine games on the road. The RedHawks have a series win over Tennessee Tech and victories over Campbell, Belmont, and Middle Tennessee under their belt. Wednesday will be Miami's first home game of the season after one more road game at Dayton on Tuesday. Head coach Danny Hayden is in his third season in charge.
 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• The Flyers are batting .225 as a team with a .311 slugging percentage and a .281 on-base percentage. Dayton has 11 doubles on the season and five home runs in nine games. Leading the way is junior Robbie Doring, who has a .353 average, eight runs scored, three home runs, and eight RBI. Junior Nick Gobert has chipped in two home runs and four RBI as well.
• Dayton's pitching staff has combined for a team ERA of 7.12 with 54 strikeouts and 38 walks in 73 1/3 innings of work. Tuesday and Wednesday's starters are TBD.
• Defensively, the Flyers have a fielding percentage of .977 with seven errors and nine double plays in 311 chances.
 

THE OPPONENT
• Miami has a team batting average of .271 through nine games with 19 doubles, 15 home runs, and 62 RBI. The RedHawks are led by senior Gary Russo, who has six home runs, 14 RBI, and a .378 average. Four other Miami hitters are batting over .300, including sophomore Ross Haffey's .444 mark to go with his 16 RBI.
• The pitching for the RedHawks has been similar to Dayton's in that Miami has a team ERA of 7.13. The RedHawks have 66 strikeouts compared to 44 walks in 77 innings this season. Starters are also TBD.
• Miami defensively has a .952 fielding percentage with 16 errors and seven double plays in 336 chances.
 

LAST MEETING
• Dayton and Miami last met on April 22, 2014. On that night, the Flyers went into Oxford and left with a 10-2 victory over the RedHawks. Current Flyer Aaron Huesman went 3-for-4 in that game with three RBI while Nick Gobert pitched eight strong innings.
