NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton sophomore
Manda Cash has been named the Atlantic 10 pitcher of the week
for the third time this season.The award is for Cash's performances April 4-10, and is the fourth time this season that a Dayton pitcher has won the award.
Cash went 2-0 on the week, picking up key victories for the Flyers over Saint Louis and George Mason. The southpaw tossed a complete game shutout against the Billikens on April 6, allowing just two base hits while striking out 11. She went on to set a career-high in strikeouts with 13 in a no-decision against George Mason on April 9.
The Columbus, Ohio native wrapped up the weekend against GMU on April 10 with another complete game shutout, striking out eight and allowing just two infield singles.
To put the exclamation point on the weekend series, Cash drove in the go-ahead run and scored an insurance run in Dayton's come-from-behind, 6-2 victory over George Mason.
Dayton returns to action on Wednesday, April 13 when they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State University at 6 p.m.
