WASHINGTON - University of Dayton softball senior
Izzy Kemp was named the Atlantic 10 Under Armour Softball Pitcher of the Week, her fourth weekly award this season.
George Washington senior Ashley Corpuz was named Player of the Week while Saint Joseph's freshman Alivia Heers earned Rookie of the Week. The league announced the awards on Monday for games played from March 23 to March 29.
Kemp posted a 3-0 record in the circle this week with a 1.05 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 20.0 innings of work in four appearances. The right-handed pitcher from Westfield, Ind. led the Flyers to a 9-4 midweek win over Northern Kentucky, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing just one earned run on one hit. Kemp tossed a seven-inning shutout against George Mason, pushing Dayton to a 2-0 victory on Saturday, while striking out 13 batters. She added 10 more strikeouts while allowing just one hit in 4.2 innings against the Patriots on Sunday.
UP NEXT
Dayton continues its nine-game road stretch with two midweek games next week. On Wednesday, Dayton will be at Ohio State for a single game at 2 p.m. followed by another single game matchup at Providence on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Flyers will then play a three-game conference set at against the Rams of Rhode Island April 3-4 in Kingston.
