NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton sophomore
Manda Cash has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week and the third time in 2016.
The award is for Cash's performances April 11-17, and is the fifth time this season that a Dayton pitcher has won the award.
Cash went 2-1 on the week, picking up her wins in the weekend sweep of Atlantic 10 foe La Salle. She pitched 18 innings and allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out 26 total batters. Her ERA for the week was a microscopic 0.39.
In the two victories over La Salle, the Columbus, Ohio native allowed just one unearned run on four hits while striking out a total of 17 Explorers.
In the Flyers' midweek game against Ohio State, Cash held the Buckeyes offense to just one run on one hit and struck out nine. The Buckeyes came into the matchup averaging over seven runs and eight hits per contest.
Dayton wraps up a five-game home stand on Wednesday, April 20 it welcomes Ohio University to town for a double header, beginning at 3 p.m.
