DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton softball team honored its seniors on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon, as the Flyers and Fordham Rams were rained out at UD Softball Stadium.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday, May 1 starting at 11 a.m.
Dayton set down the Rams after a leadoff walk in the top of the first, and with one away in the home half of the inning the rains came through and the game was called.
The 2016 senior class, which includes
Kirsten Bartlett,
Emily Froment,
Katelyn Gibson,
Krista Gustafson,
Kennedy Haynes and
Kathryn Hess, is the all-time winningest class in Dayton history with 111 wins, and is the first ever Flyer team to have back-to-back above .500 seasons.
UD wraps up its regular season home schedule with Sunday's doubleheader and then finishes the regular season at Massachusetts with a three-game series starting May 7.
