LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Dayton sophomore
Manda Cash and junior
Gabrielle Snyder were announced as members of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All Mid-Atlantic Region First Team on Thursday morning.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the NFCA's 10 regions with first, second and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and now both Cash and Snyder become eligible for selection to the 2016 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
It is just the third time in UD softball history that a player has been selected All-Region First Team, and is the first time that Dayton has had two members receive first team recognition in the same year. Cash was one of two pitchers selected to the first team, while Snyder was selected as the utility/pitcher.
Head Coach
Cara LaPlaca commented, "We are thrilled for Gabby and Manda to be recognized with other elite performers throughout the country. Their contributions to our program have been invaluable and has helped propel Dayton Flyers Softball to unprecedented heights. It will be exciting to follow their ongoing careers as they continue to help advance our program."
Cash, a Columbus, Ohio native, was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year by the conference last week and finished the season with 11 wins and a 1.42 ERA. She led the conference and tied the UD record for strikeouts in a season (183), had the highest strikeouts per seven innings mark (8.4), and held opponents to just a .158 batting average.

The Indianapolis, Ind. native was also a dominate force in the pitching circle, finishing with an A-10 best 1.31 ERA, a win/loss record of 8-2 and holding opponents to just a .228 batting average.
