A-10 HONORS ERHAHON AS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the second time in as many weeks, Dayton volleyball junior Amber Erhahon has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week as announced today by the conference office.

Rhode Island senior Layne Self earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. George Washington freshman Skylar Iott and La Salle's Devin Corah were selected as the league's Co-Rookies of the Week. All awards are for matches played Aug. 29-Sept. 4.

Erhahon led the Flyers to a 4-0 week with a .430 hitting percentage and 0.88 blocks per set. She recorded a career-high 20 kills to go with five blocks in Dayton's 3-1 win over Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday. Over the weekend at the Dayton Invitational, Erhahon was named to the All-Tournament Team following three wins at home. The middle blocker from Albany, Calif., recorded nine kills and three blocks against intra-state rival Xavier followed by a 12-kill, three-block, three-dig match against Northwestern. In the weekend finale, Erhahon tallied seven kills and three blocks in a sweep of Chattanooga. For the week, she scored 3.66 points per set while averaging 3.00 kills per set.

The Flyers will hit the road this week to take part in Evansville University's tournament. Dayton will play Kent State Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. match-up against host Evansville on Saturday. The weekend rounds out with a 4:00 p.m. match against Austin Peay Saturday afternoon. All matches will be played at EU's Carson Center.
