FALL A-10 CHAMPIONS HONORED BY PRESIDENT SPINA

Women's Soccer, Men's Cross Country, and Volleyball Were All Atlantic 10 Champions This Past Fall

DAYTON –University of Dayton President Dr. Eric Spina invited three athletics programs to his home this past weekend to honor the teams for their Atlantic 10 Championships this past fall.

The Dayton women's soccer, men's cross country, and volleyball teams each spent an evening  at Dr. Spina's home for dinner, conversations, and a celebration of their accomplishments on and off the field of competition.

Dr. Spina has spent time with the student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to show his support of the programs throughout their seasons, but capped everything off with the recognition event this past weekend.

Here are some accomplishments of the fall champions' seasons:

Volleyball
  • Finished the season 30-2 and recorded the highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I (.938)
  • Participated in the NCAA Tournament for the third-consecutive season and 12th overall appearance
  • Won its 13th regular season Atlantic 10 Championship

Men's Cross Country
  • Won its first ever Atlantic 10 Championship
  • First men's cross country only program to win conference title in NCAA Division I history
  • Earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for 22nd consecutive season

Women's Soccer
  • Won its 10th Atlantic 10 Championship, a conference record
  • Advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in program history
  • Had seven players named to the All-Championship team, including Most Outstanding Player Libby Leedom
  • Wrapped up Head Coach Mike Tucker's 22-year tenure with his 21st A-10 title, either regular season or tournament
