BASEBALL WELCOMES BOWLING GREEN TO TOWN TUESDAY

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team opens up a busy week with a single game against Bowling Green on Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. at Spectrum Stadium.

The game will be the first promotion of the season, as Taco Tuesday is celebrated at the field. The first 30 fans to the taco truck will receive a free taco, while the truck will remain on site during the game for fans to enjoy.

ABOUT DAYTON
UD is 6-11 on the season after falling in three of four to Ball State over the weekend. Dayton has seen its team ERA fall dramatically since its first three weekends, with the team mark sitting at 6.50 after 17 games. Sophomore Tyler Henry leads starting staff with a 3.71 mark in 26.2 innings, while junior Mason Kutruff has picked up two wins in his last two starts, throwing 12 innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out 11 and walking two.

The Flyers' hitting is led by senior Maverick Prine, who has the only UD batting average above the .300-threshold at the moment, coming in at .306. The Davison, Mich. native is tied for the team lead in RBIs (11) and triples (1), and has the second-most doubles (4). As a team, the Flyers are getting on base at a .330 average and are scoring nearly six runs per game.

Tuesday is Dayton's last game before the start of Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are set to welcome Richmond to town on Friday, March 24 for a three-game series.

ABOUT BOWLING GREEN
Bowling Green is the second straight Mid-American Conference to roll through the Gem City, coming into the matchup with a record of 4-12. The Falcons have lost its first six games of the season, including three at No. 20 Texas A&M. BGSU is most recently coming off a double header loss to Niagara on Sunday.

Like the Flyers, only one Falcon currently has a batting average above .300, as Greg Basalya leads the team with a .333 mark. He also leads the team in home runs (2), doubles (3), hits (15) and RBIs (11).

The Bowling Green pitching staff has seen strong work from Tyler Anderson during the season, posting a 2.63 ERA in 27.1 innings of work. Though he holds a 1-3 record, Anderson is holding opponents to a .255 batting average and has only allowed eight earned runs in five starts. The other bright spot for BGSU has been Chase Antle, who has yet to surrender a run in 12.2 innings of work.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST
Tuesday's weather brings both good and bad news for Dayton. The good news is that the temperatures are supposed to climb near 60 degrees. The bad news is that there's a chance for afternoon showers. With the current chance of rain at 40 percent, the Flyers and Falcons are hopeful for a window to play.
