DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's cross country team will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio this weekend to compete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational.
Â
The meet will be held on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 at Gettler Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati.
Â
The 10000m is the only track event that will be run on Friday, March 31 and it will begin at 6 p.m. On Saturday, April 1, field events will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by track events which begin at noon.
Â
Dayton's last meet was a record-breaking one at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis two weeks ago. At that meet, sophomore
Chris Negri set a school record in the 3000m with a time of 8:22.43. Negri's record breaking time was also good enough for a first-place finish. Four other runners also set new PR's that placed them in the Top 10 all-time in the 3000m.
Â
Dayton now looks to build on that success heading into this weekend's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. The Flyer's will participate in four events including the 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and 10000m.
Â
The competition at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational includes many in-state rival schools, including Cincinnati, Xavier, Ohio State, Tiffin, Bowling Green, and Ohio, among others.
