Men's Cross Country

Negri Named A-10 Performer Of The Week

The Senior Runner Led UD To A Sixth-Place Showing At Joe PIane Meet

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced their weekly cross country honors and named University of Dayton men's cross country senior Chris Negri as the performer of the week.

Negri led the Flyers this past weekend at the Joe Piane Meet hosted by Notre Dame, finishing 16th overall and recording the 12th-best time in program history at the five-mile event. The Warren, N.J. native finished in 24:20.53 among a loaded field of regionally ranked opponents.

"Chris had a great day for us at Notre Dame this past weekend," said head coach Jason Ordway. "He came through when we needed a front running type race and our other guys were able to key off him throughout the race. He's rounding into shape nicely."

Dayton defeated numerous ranked teams and jumped ahead of Miami in the Great Lakes Region to No. 8 this week.

The Flyers return to action on Oct. 13 in Madison, Wisc. at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet.
