DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis program announced two more signings on Tuesday afternoon with the addition of Maxwell DeCurtins and Georgi Mavrodiev.
Mavrodiev hails from Norcross, Ga. and is listed as a four-star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net, where he has been ranked as high as No. 60 in his class nationally. As a finalist in doubles at the Orange Bowl, as well as a doubles semifinalist at Eddie Herr, he should be able to help bolster the Flyers lineup in doubles play. Mavrodiev continues a recent pipeline of Georgia standouts to play tennis at Dayton, as current redshirt senior
Langford Hills and sophomore
Will Harper, as well as 2018 graduate
Simon Jayaram, all came to UD from the Peach State.
DeCurtins, a local product from Cincinnati, stands tall with a 6'4 frame and exhibits exceptional traits of athleticism on the court, as he has been focusing on men's opens competition rather than junior tennis up to this point in his career.
Currently an 11 on the UTR scale, his level has the capability to skyrocket once he joins the program for the 2019-2020 season with his athleticism and potential.
Dayton's haul for the 2019 recruiting now sits at three, as the Flyers also
inked Oliver Dunne on Nov. 29.
The Flyers will open their season on Jan. 21 at noon (ET) on the road against Toledo. The Flyers will look to build upon last season's 18-win campaign in 2018, which was the second-most all-time in Dayton history for wins in a single season.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
Georgi Mavrodiev
"I fell in love with Dayton from the moment I stepped foot on campus. The environment was welcoming and everyone treated each other like family. The guys on the team are hard working and encourage each other to get better every day. From the first phone call I had with Coach Meyer, I felt a connection. I have many goals I want to achieve before I leave Dayton and I believe Coach Meyer will help me get there. Can't wait to be a Flyer!"
Max DeCurtins
"I chose Dayton because I felt it was the best fit for me academically and athletically. I like the tennis team's chemistry and the goals they have set and wanted to be a part of it. I am really looking forward to my next four years as a Flyer."
