Coach's Comments
"We had a very successful first meet back," said head coach
Jason Ordway. "There was really good competition here this weekend and our guys took full advantage of it. We had a lot of PR's across the board. The freshmen had chances to make some marks and had some lifetime bests. We started off with the 5K last night. We had some really good showings from those guys. We were able to get in there and run towards the front and take the pressure off ourselves. We had some really good efforts off it.
Luke Hoover had a big PR and led the way for us. Then we had some freshmen lead the rest of the way. Today, we were in the gold division of the 3K.
Chris Negri broke the school record and had a really good race. He was in control the whole way and was able to surge the last little bit to win and get the school record.
J.P. Flavin got a big PR today and
Spencer Danielson just missed getting a PR, but he had a really good effort there. All in all, the guys are looking really good for the first meet of the year. I didn't think we were rusty at all. We can in a littler sharper than we have in the past. I think our fitness from the fall carried over and now we are able to chase those times. We are feeling really good about it. Next we have the SPIRE where we will face some more good competition and we will specialize our events a little bit more to see If we can go get those times."
