RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Dayton women's track and field team competed at N.C. State's Raleigh Relays this Friday and Saturday.
Head Coach Jason Ordway's Quotes
"We had a great weekend at the Raleigh Relays. We were lucky enough to have very favorable weather conditions for most of our competitions, as well as, very competitive fields in every event. This resulted in a lot of personal and season bests within each event group. Most notable of these was
Lillian Cook throwing a big PR and new school record in the javelin with a 48.99m, winning the event, and most likely punching her ticket to the first rounds of nationals.
We got a better idea of where we're at today, fitness wise, and what we need to work on prior to the post season. We'll be looking forward to getting more meets under our belt as the season progresses."
Highlights
- Sophomore Lillian Cook broke her own school record and won gold in the javelin with her mark of 48.99m, which is the best in the Atlantic 10 so far this season.
- Junior Taylor Vernot recorded the second-fastest time in UD history in the 5,000-meter with her time of 16:47.26.
- Redshirt freshman Chloe Flora's 4:30.17 in the 1500-meter run was fourth all-time at UD.
- The Flyers recorded 14 PRs in their second outdoor meet of the season.
