NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its preseason cross country poll and predicted the University of Dayton men's team to win its third consecutive title.
Dayton was picked first overall in both the men's and women's polls after the Flyers swept the A-10 Championships last season.
"Our men's team will be looking to build on the success from the previous two years and back-to-back titles," said head coach
Jason Ordway. "We're led by a very strong senior class that is looking to cap off their final seasons. They are leading our large underclassmen group by setting very positive examples. They've played a big part in changing culture and expectations within our program, and I'm excited to see how they continue to develop."
On the men's side, Dayton led Saint Joseph's, Duquesne, La Salle, and George Washington to round out the top five.
The Flyers open the season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Queen City Invitational in Highland Heights, Ky.
Dayton returns three of its four 2017 All-Conference performers in
Spencer Danielson,
J.P. Flavin, and
Chris Negri. Coach Ordway also swept the men's and women's A-10 Coach of the Year honors as well.
