Newport News, Va. -- The Atlantic 10 Conference released its weekly baseball awards on Monday evening and Dayton junior
Hunter Wolfe was named as the conference's Pitcher of the Week. Wolfe threw a complete game and scattered just four hits across his nine innings of work, while striking out 11 batters and walking just one in Dayton's 2-1 win over Seton Hall on Saturday.
Wolfe started fast by striking out each of the first four batters he faced and he kept that momentum going all game long with only one Pirate baserunner ever advancing beyond first base. He is now 1-1 this season with and a 3.60 ERA to go along with 15 strikeouts in 15 innings on the mound.
Wolfe and the rest of the Flyers travel to Nashville this weekend to take on No. 1 Vanderbilt for a three-game series. The series opens on Friday, Mar. 1 at 5:30 p.m., and will continue on Mar. 2 at 3:00 p.m. before concluding on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. (ET).
