#UDBASE Has Home Opener On Thursday At 2:30 P.M.

The Flyers Will Take On Purdue Fort Wayne On Thursday As The First Of Five Games In Four Days

The University of Dayton baseball team is set to begin a stretch of five games, including four at home, in four days on Thursday when the Flyers host Purdue Fort Wayne at DP&L Stadium At Woerner Field with first pitch scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (ET).

The weekend will also feature a home games against Ohio on Friday evening at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader against Canisius on Saturday beginning at noon. The busy four-day stretch will conclude on Sunday with a cross-town trip to Wright State to take on the Raiders at 3 p.m.

Dayton is 1-6-1 this season, but all six losses have come at the hands of nationally-ranked opponents with three defeats apiece coming against No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 9 Georgia. Last week's series at Vanderbilt showed several strongpoints, as Dayton held the Commodores to just two runs of production in the series final, a 2-0 Dayton loss, the lowest run total of the season thus far for Vanderbilt. Senior LHP Tyler Henry spearheaded the effort, finishing with a final line of 7.0 IP, 5 H, ER, K, 0 BB. Sophomore RHP Aaron Ernst also produced a solid start during the weekend with six innings on the mound with just two earned runs allowed and four strikeouts to just one walk. Imbriano has an ERA of 4.26 across 6.1 innings in four appearances so far this season.

On offense, freshman catcher Jay Curtis and sophomore outfielder Mitchell Garrity have led the way, as Curtis has team-high marks in both batting average (.296) and RBI (5), while Garrity gets on base at a .441 clip in the leadoff spot of the lineup. Junior Alex Brickman already has two home runs this season and will look to add to that total this weekend. Corey Imbriano will make the start for the Flyers on Thursday against the Mastodons.

Purdue Fort Wayne is 4-6 this season, but has lost six straight after opening the season with a four-game sweep over Alabama A&M. Left-handed freshman Justin Miller will make his first career start on the mound on Thursday against the Flyers. In three appearances this season, Miller has an ERA of 8.59 in 7.1 innings of work, striking out 12 and walking eight. He failed to record an out in his most recent outing against Southeast Missouri State and allowed four earned runs, while walking three.
