DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will play its first home game of the regular season Friday night at 7 p.m. to start the Dayton Classic. Eastern Illinois will battles OSU Sunday at 5 p.m. in neutral site contest before Dayton and Northern Illinois battle in the final game of the tournament Monday at 5:30 p.m. Monday's game will be live streamed on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers enter the weekend with an 0-2 record on the year after a tough few days at the Wolstein Classic hosted by Ohio State this past weekend. UD fell to Illinois Chicago Friday and tournament champs CSUN on Sunday.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 15th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 139 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a veteran squad this season with seven seniors and 10 returning starters.
Through two games this season, Dayton is averaging 1.5 goals per game, but allowing 3.00 to opponents. The Flyers are being outshot 13.0 to 21.5, but does boast a saves advantage.

Xavier Zengue has the lone assist for UD this year. Goalkeeper
Federico Barrios ranks fourth in the nation in saves per game and sixth in total saves.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
OHIO STATE
Ohio State heads down the road from Columbus with a 1-1 record overall, falling to common UD opponents CSUN 4-3 and defeating UIC 1-0. Head coach Brian Maisonneuve is in his second season.
The Buckeyes are scoring 2.00 goals each contest and allowing the same to opponents. OSU is outshooting opposing squads 15.0 to 8.5 while committing fewer fouls.
OSU is led by Jack Holland, who has two goals and assist to lead the team in both categories. Veteran goalkeeper Parker Siegfried has four saves and one shutout in two games.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS
Northern Illinois is also looking for its first win of the season after falling on the road at DePaul and Loyola Chicago. The Huskies host Green Bay Friday before traveling to Dayton for Monday's contest.
Entering the week, the Huskies were averaging just 0.50 goals each game and giving up 1.50 to opponents. NIU is however posting 12.5 shots and putting 36 percent on target.
NIU is led by Louis Sala, who has the lone goal for the Huskies, and Adrian Lara, who provided the assist. Goalkeeper Christopher Koninger has played every minute between the posts.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Ohio State have played 46 times previously. It has been a close series with 19 Flyer victories, 20 Buckeye wins, and seven draws. The two teams last met in the NCAA Tournament First Round back in 2015 with Dayton falling to OSU via penalty shootout against former Flyer goalkeeper
Chris Froschauer.
The Flyers and Northern Illinois have met just one time in series history, back in 2006. In Coach Currier's second season in charge, Dayton opened the season with a tough 2-0 loss .
LAST OUTING
Dayton suffered a 3-1 loss to CSUN in the finale of the Wolstein Classic Sunday as the Matadors claimed the title. Fjeldberg scored for the Flyers, but they were unable to make a comeback. Barrios totaled nine saves in the contest.
Ohio State picked up its first win of the season on Sunday at the same Wolstein Classic with a 1-0 victory over Illinois Chicago. The Buckeyes scored in the 57th minute to earn the victory.
Northern Illinois fell on the road at Loyola Chicago Sunday to remain winless on the season. The host Ramblers recorded their game winner in the 76th minute off a free kick.
BARRIOS NAMED PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE
Senior goalkeeper
Federico Barrios was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference team as the lone keeper. The Colombia native led the league in save percentage last season with a .815 mark and totaled a conference-high eight shutouts to go with 53 saves.

Dayton goalkeeper
Federico Barrios was named All-Tournament team at the Wolstein Classic on Sept. 1 after his performance in the two game stretch. He recorded a career-high nine saves in the contest against CSUN Sunday.
PRESEASON
The Flyers went undefeated in the two exhibition games this year, finishing with a 2-0 win over IUPUI and a 0-0 draw against Bowling Green. Both shutouts took place at home with the Flyers defending Baujan Field.
DAYTON PICKED TO FINISH 4TH
The Atlantic 10 Conference released its preseason poll and picked the Flyers to finish fourth with 121 points. Dayton was predicted to finish behind favorites VCU (159), Saint Louis (146), and Rhode Island (142).
FLYER SUCCESS
The Dayton men's program has an overall record of 497-422-90 and four NCAA Tournament appearances in its history. The Flyers are also 133-89-26 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and have six conference titles between the regular season and league tournament.
INTERNATIONAL FLAIR
The Dayton program has been known to recruit well outside of the U.S. and this year's team is no different. The Flyers have student-athletes from Ghana, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, Slovenia, Sweden, Germany, Nigeria, and Colombia totaling 15 international players. This is coming off the 2018 season in which the Flyers had 12 international players.

The head coach of the Flyers has had success at every place he has coached.
Dennis Currier is in his 14th year at Dayton and holds a career record of 327-141-55 in 26 seasons and a 139-92-43 record with the Flyers. His career winning percentage of .686 ranks 10th in the nation amongst active coaches, ahead of programs like Indiana, Notre Dame, Kentucky, UCLA, and Xavier.
