NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton's Connor Bruce has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week. The award, released Tuesday, are for matches played Jan. 27 - Feb. 2.

Bruce, a freshman from Pittsburgh, picked up his first collegiate singles win with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles against Wright State on Friday. Bruce and Joe DeMarco also won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles to capture the point and first team win for the Flyers. Bruce continued his singles streak with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles against Lipscomb on Saturday.

The Flyers open Atlantic 10 action this weekend in Pittsburgh, Bruce's hometown, vs. Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. and then at Duquesne on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Alpha Tennis & Fitness of Pittsburgh.
