DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team remains on the road to take on Davidson College Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Alumni Soccer Stadium in North Carolina.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the week with a 5-7-2 record on the season and a 2-3 Atlantic 10 mark. The Flyers have lost their last two contests and are 1-5 on the road this season.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 17th year at the helm of the Flyers and the reigning Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. UD replaces just one starter from last year's team that went on to win the A-10 regular season title with a 4-1-1 conference mark.
As a team, the Flyers are averaging 1.29 goals each outing and giving up 1.71 goals to opposing teams. UD is also being out-shot 12.2 to 14.9 per contest.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
DAVIDSON
Davidson hosts Dayton with a 7-6-1 record this year and a 2-3-1 A-10 mark. The Wildcats are also riding a two-game losing skid and are 3-3-1 at home this season.
Head coach Mike Babst is in his third season at Davidson having joined from the University of Chicago where he was head coach for six seasons and led them to five NCAA tournaments.
As a team, Davidson is scoring 1.69 goals per game and allowing 2.00 goals to opponents. The Wildcats face a shot deficit of 1.9 attempts per game.
The main offensive threat for Davidson has been Henry Howell, who has four goals and five assists on the season for 13 points, while Vincent Bennage has added a team-high six goals. Connor Smith has scored four goals with Nicholas Cavallo chipping in four assists. Goalkeeper Giacomo Piccardo has 33 saves and a 1.76 goals against average in 10 starts.
LAST OUTING
Dayton suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road at No. 11 Saint Louis this past Saturday. The Flyers trailed just eight minutes into the contest and were unable to get on the scoreboard.
Davidson fell at home to Massachusetts this last Saturday, 3-2, despite taking the initial lead in the 16th minute. The visiting Minutemen scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute after the Wildcats had tied the game up just two minutes prior.
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Davidson have met five times previously with the Flyers holding a narrow 3-2 win advantage. The last match-up took place in the A-10 Tournament First Round with UD coming out on top 2-1 in double overtime.
JONES-RILEY EARNS A-10 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Jaden Jones-Riley was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 30 after his hat-trick performance in the season-opening win over UAB. He totaled seven points during the two-game stretch.

Dayton was predicted to finish third in the A-10 in the 2021 preseason poll and received two first-place votes. The Flyers were picked behind conference favorites Fordham (six first-place votes) and Saint Louis (three votes), but ahead of Massachusetts and VCU (two votes).

Kingsford Adjei earning All-Conference team honors. He was the lone Flyer recognized on the team from the reigning A-10 champs.

Dayton historically has had a diverse team with players hailing from all over the globe. This season is no different with the Flyers having student-athletes from 10 different countries.
