EUGENE, Ore. – University of Dayton track and field standout
Casey Bogues will compete in the javelin throw at the NCAA Championships this Thursday, June 10. She will compete at the historic Hayward Field on the campus of University of Oregon.
Bogues is scheduled to compete at 7:45 p.m. ET (4:45 p.m. PT in Oregon). She is in the first flight (of two) and will compete amongst the 24 top javelin throwers in NCAA Division I this year.
She qualified for the NCAA Championships at the NCAA East preliminary round in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 27. Bogues placed ninth of 48 competitors with a mark of 50.96m, which she threw on her first attempt. The top 12 individuals from that region earned a spot at the NCAA Championships.
Bogues becomes just the third Flyer to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships; she joins the elite group of
Emily Borchers (2019 in SteepleChase) and Mallory Barnes (2010 and 2011 in Hammer Throw).
In her first collegiate outdoor season, Bogues has already won the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship in javelin with a school-record and conference-record mark of 51.28m.
She has earned four A-10 weekly honors this year. She was named the A-10 Outdoor Women's Field Performer of the Week for April 12-18. Bogues has also been named the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week three times, taking the honor in the first two weeks of the season and again April 19-25.
