DAYTON - University of Dayton football senior
Brandon Easterling and volleyball senior
Jamie Peterson have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week for contests during the week of Sept. 7-12.
Easterling, a native of Fairborn, Ohio, led Dayton with eight tackles (four solo) and he made two big plays in the third quarter that led to a touchdown and a field goal in Dayton's 17-10 win over Eastern Illinois. After UD took the second-half kickoff and drove to take a 7-3 lead, Easterling forced a fumble on EIU's first play and gave Dayton the ball on the Panther 43-yard line. After the Flyers scored another touchdown, the Dayton D forced a three and out, the Fairborn native's 29-yard punt return set Dayton up at the EIU 31-yard line, leading to a Dayton field goal for a 17-3 advantage. Easterling was also credited with a half tackle for loss and had another tackle for no gain. He was also named the PFL Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 12.
A West Liberty, Ohio, native, Peterson led the Flyers with 4.82 kills per set, hitting at a .323 clip. In Friday's matchup against Wright State, she posted a season-high 27 kills, along with six digs and six blocks. Peterson contributed in back-to-back straight set wins over Illinois State and Central Michigan, for a total of 26 kills, eight digs, two blocks, and two service aces. She was recognized as the A-10 Player of the Week on Sept. 13.
Each week we will recognize Dayton student-athletes throughout the end of the school year.
