Atlantic 10 Releases Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll

Flyers Picked to Finish Tied for Fourth Place

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Atlantic 10 Conference released it's annual men's cross country Preseason Poll Thursday afternoon, and the University of Dayton men's cross country team was picked to finish in a tie for fourth place with Saint Joseph's. The Flyers also received one first place vote in the poll.

Dayton returns seven of their top eight runners from the spring season that saw the Flyers compete in just two meets due to COVID-19 and adverse weather. These include reigning A-10 All-Rookie Team honoree redshirt sophomore Matthew Sollenberger, as well as junior Calan Gizelbach who had the best individual finish for the Flyers in the Atlantic 10 Championship meet on Mar. 5th.

The Flyers will open the 2021 season this Friday, Sept. 3, as they will be at nearby Wright State University for the Mike Baumer Invitational. The meet is set to get underway for the men at 6 p.m., with the women to follow shortly after.
