NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 released the first weekly tennis awards of the season Tuesday afternoon, and freshman
Eric Perkowski was named the first Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week in 2022.

Â
The Lincolnshire, Ill., native won all five matches he played in between singles and doubles in the last week. The freshman started out the week winning in No. 6 singles against Alex Wesbrooks of Louisville last Tuesday, taking a close three-set victory for his first win of the spring.
Â
On Friday against Xavier, Perkowski won in straight sets over Marco Pennelli in No. 6 singles 7-6, 6-1, and he finished a perfect singles weekend with a win in the fourth singles flight against Alonso DePrada of Thomas More, 6-2, 6-4.
Â
The success continued into doubles play, with Perkowski pairing with
Steven Karl and
Connor Bruce on Sunday against the Saints to win both matches against Thomas More by a 6-1 score.
Â
The Flyers will take on IUPUI on Friday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.
