DAYTON - University of Dayton football senior Sam Schadek and cross country junior Abby Carter have been named the Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. These awards are for contests held Oct. 24-30.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Schadek spent much of his day against Valparaiso in the Beacon backfield on Saturday. He was credited with five tackles on the game, with 4.5 tackles for a loss.  He had 3.5 sacks (2.5 in the decisive fourth quarter) and a quarterback hurry. Schadek was named the Pioneer Football League's Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.

Carter, who hails from Fishers, Indiana, earned 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors after her 10th-place finish Saturday at the A-10 Championship meet. Carter covered the 5K course in 17:31.9, which was a PR by 37 seconds for her. As a team, Dayton claimed fifth place overall.
