Alyssa Cacini was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week while freshman
Haven Dwyer was named both the Pitcher and Rookie of the Week as announced Tuesday, March 8.
George Washington's Alexa Williams shared Player of the Week honors with Cacini.
Cacini, a native of Arlington Heights, Illinois, led the team with a .438 average with three multi-hit games over a 3-2 weekend for the Flyers at the Lipscomb Purple & Gold Challenge. She batted the team's first triple of the season Friday against Lipscomb and posted back-to-back two-hit games on the first day of play. Cacini knocked out two home runs and collected a career-high-tying four RBI against Southeast Missouri on Saturday night and she scored Dayton's game-winning run Sunday against College of Charleston. For the weekend, posted a .938 slugging percentage and .471 on-base percentage while collecting 39 putouts playing at first base.
Hailing from Cincinnati, Dwyer picked up two wins in the circle for the Flyers over the weekend. She recorded her first career win Friday in her start against College of Charleston after putting in 5.0 innings of work with two earned runs and three strikeouts. Also got the win in Friday's second game after 4.0 innings of relief against Lipscomb after holding the Bisons scoreless. Posted a 1.31 ERA for the weekend with seven Ks over 10.2 innings pitched.
Dayton is set to open the home portion of its 2022 schedule Wednesday with a single game against Ohio. The Flyers and Bobcats will get underway at 2 p.m. March 9 at UD Softball Stadium. Admission is free.
