DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is set to open the home portion of its 2022 season Wednesday as it plays host to Ohio. First pitch between the Flyers and Bobcats is set for 2 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.

This will be the second meeting between UD and OH this season. The pair squared off on Feb. 26 at the Hilltopper Spring Fling hosted by Western Kentucky. The Bobcats scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to best the Flyers, 4-3.

SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio (4-10) is coming off a 2-0 win over Atlantic 10 Conference member Massachusetts on Sunday in its final game of the Georgia Bulldog Classic, snapping a five-game skip for the Bobcats. OU's offense is paced by Brooke Rice with a .371 average and Allie Englant (.362) with a team-high 17 hits to go with eight stolen bases. In the circle for Ohio, Mackensie Kohl (3-6) holds the team's low ERA of 5.32 with 30 strikeouts over 51.1 innings pitched.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (4-11) is coming off a 3-2 weekend at Lipscomb's Purple & Gold Challenge including a 1-0 win over College of Charleston on Sunday. Flyers senior Alyssa Cacini (.250) has tallied 11 hits, scored seven runs, has three home runs and knocked in five RBI. UD's pitching corps is led by senior Kelsey Gumm (0-4) with a 2.97 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 33.0 innings pitched.
