NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the second time this season, University of Dayton softball freshman
Emma Schutter has been tabbed as the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week. The league's weekly awards were announced Monday and are for games played April 4-10.
Rhode Island junior Rachel Zingerman was named A-10 Player of the Week while George Washington graduate student Sierra Lange earned Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Schutter, an outfielder from Dayton, Ohio, led the Flyers with a .636 average in a 1-2 weekend at league-leading George Washington. In Dayton's 1-0 win in Saturday's first game, she went 2-for-4 and followed that with a perfect 3-for-3 outing in the 4-0 nightcap loss. With her 2-for-4 day on Sunday, Schutter extended her reached-base streak to 18 games and tallied her 13th multi-hit game of the season. She currently ranks second in the A-10 in batting average (.398), hits (41) and stolen bases (17).
UP NEXT
Dayton will head west to St. Louis this coming weekend for a three-spot at Saint Louis. The Flyers and Billikens will play a doubleheader Friday, April 15 beginning at 1 p.m. ET at Billiken Sports Center. On Saturday, the pair will play a single game which will also get underway at 1 p.m.
