LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Dayton softball freshman
Emma Schutter was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association by being selected for the Division I Mid-Atlantic Region First Team. Schutter is the fifth Flyer, and first since 2016, to earn All-Region First Team accolades.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
A Dayton native, Schutter was named the 2022 Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference First and All-Rookie teams following the 2022 regular season. After her performance in Dayton's third-place finish at the 2022 A-10 Championship, Schutter was voted onto the All-Championship Team as well. She finished her first season as a Flyer with a conference-best .414 average and ranked second in the league with 63 hits and 23 stolen bases.
The 2022 NFCA Division I All-America teams, voted on by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced on Wednesday, June 1.
