Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, Sanchez led the Flyers to the 2022 Ohio State Wolstein Classic Championship with two goals and two assists in wins over Cal Poly and South Carolina this past weekend. The senior midfielder had a goal and two assists, including on the game-winner Thursday, before scoring the game-winning goal on Sunday. Dayton went 2-0 last week and outscored opponents 9-2. Sanchez was named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
A Rochester, Michigan, native, Gemelli scored her team-leading second and third goals of the season on the week, both in Dayton's 3-0 road win over Northern Kentucky on Thursday, Aug. 25. After scoring the eventual game-winning goal in the ninth minute, the junior would add another tally just 18 minutes later to solidify Dayton's advantage. Gemelli leads the Atlantic 10 in goals scored with three, tying her for eighth in NCAA Div. I. She was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Each week we will recognize Dayton student-athletes throughout the end of the school year.
