BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Dayton track & field team competed in Bowling Green at a one-day open meet this Saturday in its first competition of the 2023 indoor season.
Highlights
- Junior Abby Carter took second place in the one mile run with a time of 5:02.21.
- Senior Grace Homan took third place in shot put with a 14.08m throw, which is a new PR for indoor shot put.
- Carter finished in fourth place in the 800 meter run with a 2:20.54 time.
- Emily Sreenan and freshman Marissa Pritchett placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 3000 meter run. Sreenan's time was 10:20.62 and Pritchett's time was 10:21.29.
- The 'A' group of the 4x400 meter relay team (Lianna Shakoor, Rayana Burns, Jadyn Haywood, Lauren Santiago) finished in 3rd place with a time of 4:07.18.
- The Flyers achieved 18 PRs on Saturday.

"It was a great start to the 2023 indoor track & field season for us. We went into our first meet with the goal to establish a baseline for our group. We are going to improve more each week, and to start off the season this well is a great sign for what is to come for this team. We had a handful of PRs already, and at this point in the season to have athletes with opening times and marks like this, we are going to be on a lot of teams' radar now. We had impressive times across the board, especially from our first year athletes, and we are looking forward to competing at IU next weekend. "
