FAIRBORN, Ohio – The University of Dayton cross country teams competed in their final regular season meet at Wright State University on a rainy and cold Friday afternoon. The Flyers were able to push through the weather to produce one of their best meets of the season so far.
Sammie Wells was the lone competitor for the women's team, and she made the most of her opportunity to represent the Flyers. She finished in third place overall with a 6K time of 24:35.6. This is a PR for Wells, and it comes only a week after she set a 6K PR of 25:00.7 at the Bradley Pink Classic.
The men's team finished in first place out of five competing teams. Freshman
James Mroczka led the Flyers in the 8K race by finishing in third place with a time of 26:17.81.
Connor Ewert and
Lincoln Williams came in right behind Mroczka by finishing in fourth place (26:52.42) and fifth place (27:13.56), respectively.
Tyler Fecher also earned a PR with his time of 28:07.33, which is a 14-second improvement over his previous PR.
"I'm proud of the way the athletes responded and competed at this meet with a variety of uncontrollable factors at hand," shared Head Coach
David Dobson. "There was a strong focus and deliberate engagement from early to late in the race. I also appreciate the Flyers that were not competing showing up to display their support. That's a good indicator of a well connected team!"
On Saturday, October 28, Coach Dobson's Flyers will host the A-10 Championships at Cedarville University. Check back to
