NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton women's soccer player
Maddie Bowman was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week the league office announced Monday, Oct. 9.
The freshman picked the perfect time to score her first collegiate goal this weekend, giving Dayton its lone tally in a 1-0 victory on the road at VCU on Sunday. Bowman lofted the game-winner over the keeper to the upper 90 in the 71
st minute, giving the Flyers a crucial three road points with three matches to play.
Bowman has served as a spark off the bench all season, averaging over 33 minutes per game. Her goal marked the 11
th different Flyer to find the back of the net this season.
Bowman is the first Flyer to earn Rookie of the Week honors in the 2023 season, and joins teammates
Diana Benigno (offensive),
Mairin Wessner (offensive),
Noel Blain (offensive) and
Batoul Reda (defensive) as A-10 Player of the Week winners this year.
