NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton softball freshman right-handed pitcher
Izzy Kemp has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, her third weekly honor of the season. The weekly awards were announced by the league office Monday and are for games played March 27 – April 2.
St. Bonaventure junior Kennedy Haberl and Saint Louis freshman Abby Mallo were named Co-Softball Players of the Week. Loyola Chicago sophomore Andie Broniewicz was named Pitcher of the Week.
Kemp picked up two wins and a save while posting a 1.11 ERA over 12.2 innings of work in four appearances this past week. In the first game at George Washington, she recorded her first collegiate complete-game no-hitter as she struck out nine of the 18 batters she faced in Dayton's five-inning win. In the nightcap, Kemp collected her fourth save of the season after closing out the Flyers' come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Colonials. On Sunday, the Westfield, Ind., product struck out eight more in 6.0 innings of action as Dayton secured the A-10 sweep of GW.
UP NEXT
Dayton will play a mid-week match-up at Butler on Tuesday. The Flyers and Bulldogs are set to get underway at 3 p.m. April 4 at Butler Softball Field in Indianapolis.
