DAYTON -Â The University of Dayton baseball team travels to the University of Massachusetts to wrap up the 2023 regular season this weekend, taking on the Minutemen in a three-game series starting Thursday, May 18 at Earl Lorden Field.Â
All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

ABOUT THE FLYBOYS
- With one weekend of conference play remaining, the Flyers maintain a firm position near the top of the Atlantic 10 standings. At 13-8, UD is in third place in the league and a win would secure the FlyBoys' a spot in the A-10 Tournament in Richmond, Va.Â
- On the FlyBoys' Senior Day, senior Omar Daniels played hero, hitting a walkoff single to score David Pedanou to give Dayton its first series sweep of the season. After St. Bonaventure tied the game 2-2 in the top of the ninth, Pedanou led off the home half of the frame with a single. The sophomore stole second to move into scoring position and on the third hit of his at-bat, Daniels smacked a single into centerfield to win the game.
- Four Flyers are hitting over the .300 mark in Atlantic 10 action, led by junior Carlos Castillo with an impressive .373 average. Keagan Calero (.338), Ben Jones (.325) and Matt Maloney (.304) are also enjoying strong performances at the plate in league play.
- Additionally, six FlyBoys have an OPS (on-base plus slugging) mark above .850 - Castillo 1.050, Jones .971, Marcos Pujols .900, David Pedanou .888, Calero .874 and Maloney .861. Dayton has 29 home runs, 30 doubles and six triples in A-10 play.
- The Flyers' sweep of St. Bonaventure last weekend was the first of the season for UD, and the first  sweep of an A-10 opponent since turning aside Massachusetts April 22-24 last season. In that series, Dayton scored double-digit runs in all three games, winning the first game 13-2, the second 12-3, and the finale 13-9.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
- Massachusetts is tied for 11th in the Atlantic 10 with a 5-16 conference record while holding a 13-33 mark for the season.
- The offense is hitting .261 as a team, led by Justin Blumenthal (.342), Steve Luttazi (.338) and Nolan Tichy (.320). Tichy provides the top power threat, having 11 home runs, nine doubles and 42 RBI on the season.
- UMass has a 7.35 ERA as a team on the season, while opponents are hitting .319 against them. Reliever Mikey Jensen has the best ERA on the team with a 4.50 mark in 22 innings. Taylor Perrett has started 11 games on the season, posting a 7.23 ERA with a 1-6 record.
