DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will travel to No. 4 West Virginia Tuesday, Sept. 19 for a 7 p.m. showdown with the nationally-ranked Mountaineers.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is coming off a big win over Rhode Island in Atlantic 10 play and sits at 2-4-1 on the season. The Flyers have scored 10 goals in the last two outings, but are 0-2 on the road this year.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 19th season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year for the 2020 season.
As a team, the Flyers are averaging 2.29 goals per game and giving up just 1.86 goals to opposing teams. Dayton is out-shooting opponents 17.7 to 9.7 each outing, ranking fourth in the country.

Joseph Melto Quiah and freshman
Hjalti Sigurdsson with three goals each while senior
Ousseynou Cisse has three assists to go with one goal. Senior goalkeeper
Dario Caetano has two shutouts and 18 saves through seven games.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
WEST VIRGINIA
West Virginia hosts Dayton as the No. 4 team in the nation and holds a 5-0-1 record overall. The Mountaineers are coming off a 2-2 draw against No. 5 UCF this past weekend, but is 3-0 at home this year.
Head coach Dan Stratford is in his fourth season with WVU and returns to his alma mater after a previous coaching stint at Charleston.
As a team, West Virginia is scoring 2.00 goals each contest and holding opponents to 0.50 goals per game. The Mountaineers are averaging 10.8 shots per game while giving up 8.5 to opposing teams and at a .059 percentage.
The Mountaineers are led by Marcus Caldeira with seven goals in six games while Yutaro Tsukada has added two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Jackson Lee has 13 saves and four shutouts on the season.
LAST OUTING
Dayton opened up A-10 play with a 6-0 thumping of Rhode Island at home last Saturday. The Flyers got a hat trick from
Hjalti Sigurdsson and two goals from
Kenji Mboma Dem in his home debut.
West Virginia battled No. 5 UCF on Friday and earned a hard-fought 2-2 tie on the road in conference play. The Mountaineers scored just one minute into the game but were unable to hold on for the win with all four goals in the contest coming in the first half.
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and West Virginia have met five times previously with the Mountaineers holding a 3-2 series advantage. The two teams faced off last season with the Flyers picking up a 2-1 victory at home.
