DAYTON -- The University of Dayton has announced that all available tickets for the 2024-25 men's basketball season have been sold, selling out the entire season before the Flyers take to the court for the fourth consecutive year.
Viewed through a different lens, this means every player on the 2024-25 Flyer men's basketball player will have only played in front of a capacity crowd at UD Arena over their Dayton careers.
Today's announcement includes UD's exhibition games with Xavier on Sunday, Oct. 20, and Ashland on Saturday, Oct. 26.
"Our fans are the heartbeat of our program", UD Vice-President and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan said. "Our season ticket holders are known across the country, and they continue to lift the players they support. As college sports transform, the partnership with our fans is more important than ever. Our fans have choices, and we are grateful they choose to invest in the Flyers."
Eighteen more sellouts this season will extend a regular-season sellout streak to 77 games dating back to 2019-2020. This marks the fifth consecutive season (the NCAA did not track attendance during the Covid season) that the University of Dayton has had double-digit sellouts. UD had 14 sellouts in 2019-2020 (including the final 11 games), 17 in 2021-22, 16 in 2022-23 and 15 in 2023-24. (Even though they are sellouts, exhibition games do not count in the streak.)
The Flyers have announced sellouts before a game was played in each of the last four years.
Dayton men's basketball ranked 20th nationally in average attendance in 2023-24. The Flyers' average 13,407 fans a game in the last four seasons is a school record in average attendance.
Since the Arena opened in 1969, Dayton has been in the NCAA`s Top 35 in men's basketball attendance all 53 seasons, and in the Top 25 a total of 35 times. UD was the 11th school to have 10 million fans attend a men's basketball game in its current building. The others were Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico, Purdue, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.
At this year's season opener against Saint Francis, UD will welcome its 11 millionth fan to attend a Flyer game at the Arena.
