DAYTON - University of Dayton football sophomore
Gideon Lampron and women's soccer freshman
Laney Smith have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. These awards are for contests held Oct. 7-13.
Lampron was the standout of a great day for Dayton special teams in UD's two-point win over Davidson on Saturday. The LaGrange, Ohio, native, blocked two field goal attempts - two of the four kicks the Flyers blocked in the game. The linebacker also had 11 tackles (five solo) and a TFL in the Dayton defensive effort in holding Davidson well under its offensive norms. He was named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week on Sunday.
Smith, a native of Fort Thomas, Ky., led Dayton to the 3-2 win at Massachusetts Sunday in the Flyers' lone match of the week. She scored two goals, including her first career game-winner, in her first career multi-goal match. Both shots Smith got off in her 37 minutes of action found the back of the net. She was honored as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday.
