Softball Signs Four From 2025 Class

Hayden Baird, Soseh Broglin, Izzy Calinski and Maura Carmody to Join Flyers for 2026 Season

DAYTON – University of Dayton softball head coach Cara Clark has announced the commitment of four to continue their academic and athletic careers at UD. Hayden Baird (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), Soseh Broglin (Farmington Hills, Mich./St. Catherine of Siena), Izzy Calinski (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) and Maura Carmody (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest) will join the Flyers' roster for the 2026 season.

"These four student-athletes have demonstrated the high-level character and academic excellence that is a cornerstone of our program," commented Clark. "They each possess elite skills at their position and will help contribute to our team's pursuit of future championships."

Hayden Baird, a native of Greenwood, Indiana, is a 5-6 third baseman set to graduate from Center Grove High School this coming spring and is heading into her final season with the Trojans under head coach Alyssa Coleman. She has helped lead her team to three-consecutive county championships, two sectional championships and one regional title. Baird as also earned Academic All-Trojan honors for three-straight years. She plays her club ball with Indiana Magic Gold under head coach Bill Neace and was a part of the squad's 2024 Alliance Fastpitch (AFCS) 16U Tier III National Championship.

Soseh Broglin, a 5-11 left-handed pitcher from Farmington Hills, Michigan, is playing her prep career at St. Catherine of Siena Academy under head coach Robert Green. A three-time member of the Catholic High School League All-Catholic Team, she has helped lead the Stars to two MHSAA Division 3 District 85 titles. Heading into her final season, Broglin is the program's all-time strikeouts leader with 340 career Ks and has also knocked out 26 home runs for her career. She plays club ball under head coach Bruce Lewis's 18U squad with Tennessee Mojo.

Izzy Calinski, who hails from Schererville, Indiana, is a 5-4 catcher at Lake Central High School under the tutelage of head coach Yvette Tovar. A three-year varsity team member for the Indians, she has been a part of three conference titles, three sectional titles, regional titles and an appearance in the 2023 IHSAA semi-state championship round. Calinski has posted a .386 average, including nine home runs, over 77 games at Lake Central. She plays club ball with the New Lenox Lightning under head coach Jim Abbott.

Oak Park, Illinois, native Maura Carmody rounds out the Flyers' incoming class. She is set to graduate from Oak Park River Forest High School in June 2025 after four varsity seasons with head coach James Coughlin. She has earned back-to-back West Suburban All-Conference honors and was named to the Second Team All-State squad in 2024. Carmody helped lead the Huskies to a third-place finish at the 2023 IHSAA Class 4A State Tournament. She is carrying a .400 career batting average and 61 career RBI into her senior season. A member of Krista Stoker and Josh Hays' Extreme Elite 18U squad that claimed a ninth-place finish at the 2024 Alliance Fastpitch (AFSC) Tier I National Championship.
