WASHINGTON - University of Dayton softball sophomore
Izzy Kemp has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is her secondly weekly honor of the season and the team's third overall.
Saint Louis fifth-year Cami Newbanks is the Softball Player of the Week and George Washington first year earned a weekly award for the second week in a row, being named the Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played March 12-18.
Kemp worked two complete games over the weekend, picking up two wins in Dayton's 2-1 series win at George Mason. On Saturday, she tossed the complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts to one walk in the 3-0 win. The Westfield, Ind. native followed that with seven strikeouts over seven innings of work on the way to a 5-2 win over the Patriots.
UP NEXT
Dayton has a mid-week doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday at Purdue Fort Wayne. The Flyers and Mastodons are set to get underway at 2 p.m. March 20 at the Purdue Fort Wayne Softball Field.
