#UDWSOC's Mackenzie Lutz Named A-10 Postgrad Scholarship Honoree

The All-Conference Honoree Will Pursue A P.T. Degree From Ohio State

WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Dayton women's soccer fifth-year defender MacKenzie Lutz has been named the honoree for the Atlantic 10 Postgraduate Scholarship, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Lutz held a 3.80 grade-point average in Health Communication while competing at an All-Conference level on the pitch, and will continue her academic pursuits in Physical Therapy school at The Ohio State University. She was a crucial component of the Dayton defense in 2023, anchoring the Atlantic 10's best unit as a center back, allowing a league-low 0.556 goals per game on the season.

The Sylvania, Ohio native etched her name in the UD record books by becoming just the seventh field player in program history to surpass the 7,000 minutes mark, finishing at No. 2 all-time with 7,825 minutes.

Lutz is the second consecutive women's soccer player to earn the scholarship from the Atlantic 10, as former Flyer Jessica Sheldon was the 2023 recipient.

Over the last decade, the A-10's Postgraduate Scholarship program has awarded $565,000 to 109 former student-athletes. Each of this year's 15 honorees receives $5,000 to contribute towards full-time enrollment in a postgraduate or professional program. First instituted to provide continuing education opportunities for graduating student-athletes, the program awards $75,000 in scholarship funding to former A-10 student-athletes. This marks the seventh year the Atlantic 10 has provided the scholarships to individuals from each Atlantic 10 campus.
