TYSONS, Va. – The University of Dayton baseball team enters the 2024 Atlantic 10 Tournament as the No. 3 seed and is set to take on No. 6 seed Massachusetts on the first day of action on Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.

All of Dayton's games at the A-10 Tournament will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be followed on the FlyBoys' social media channels.

DAYTON IN THE ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT
This season marks the 12th time in program history Dayton has made the Atlantic 10 Tournament, and coincidentally the fifth time making it as the tournament's No. 3 seed.

The Flyers have an all-time record of 14-18 in the league's postseason tournament, winning the tournament for the first and only time in 2012.

Since head coach
Jayson King took over the program in 2018, the #FlyBoys have made the tournament four times. In two instances (2019 & 2021), UD advanced to the championship game before falling.

30 WIN MARK
When Dayton topped Rhode Island 5-3 in the regular season finale on Saturday, the Flyers tied its high for wins in a season during the
Jayson King era (32 wins in 2019). Its the 10th time in program history UD has eclipsed 30 wins, with the program record of 36 in sight.

DAVID PEDANOU - ONE MAN WRECKING CREW
Junior
David Pedanou was named the final Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Tuesday after hitting .571 with a home run, four runs scored, and three RBI. The Worcester, Mass. native also added three steals to bring his league-leading total to 33 on the season. Pedanou been a pain in the sides of opposing pitching all season, leading the FlyBoys in average (.360) and getting on base at a .450 clip. In fact, the Worcester, Mass. native has an active on-base streak of 31 games, dating back to early March.

Pedanou has also been a menace on the base paths, stealing 33 bases in 38 attempts. He's just the second player in Dayton baseball history to reach 30 steals in a season, and finished the regular season as the Atlantic 10's leader.

MENDEZ MANIA CONTINUES
Freshman
David Mendez had the second four-hit game of his career in a second consecutive weekend, going 4-for-5 on Thursday against Rhode Island. The Aldie, Va. native hit his fifth homer of the season, drove in a run, and scored one more. He'd go on to reach base seven times in the three-game series, hitting .417, walking twice and swiping two bags.

The Atlantic 10's best rookie leads all qualifying freshmen in average (.348), hits (62), runs scored (45), RBI (47), on-base percentage (.452), and stolen bases (23) and is tied for triples and A-10 Rookies of the Week awards won.

YAMIN'S GAME GOES TO NEW HEIGHTS
Sophomore
Eddie Yamin IV has turned in one of the most well-rounded offesnive performances in the Atlantic 10 this season, hitting .337 with 13 home runs, 13 doubles, 54 RBI and 53 runs scored.

After missing the final two games of the Saint Louis series due to a broken nose sustained on a hit-by-pitch, Yamin returned to form against Rhode Island in the final series of the season. The West Sand Lake, N.Y. native hit .417 with hits in all three games of the series, hitting a double, home run, scoring four runs and driving in four more.

Yamin's improvement from freshman to sophomore season also deserves to be noted. After slashing .178/.393/.302 with five home runs, six doubles, 19 RBI and 10 runs scored in 38 games played in 2023, Yamin has turned in a .337/.611/.424 slash line in 50 games with the aforementioned counting stats.

SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
Massachusetts won two-of-three over Saint Louis to cement its spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

As a team the Minutemen hit .268, with three players hitting over the .300 mark. Austin Burgess leads the way with a .314 mark, and is joined by Mike Gervasi (.306) and Matt Travisano (.302).

The pitching staff has turned in a 6.45 ERA on the season while allowing opponents to hit .295. Justin Masteralexis leads the team with a 5-1 record on the campaign while also posting a 4.14 ERA. Robbie O'Connor leads UMass in innings (71.0) and has a 4.44 ERA.
